1.5 miles, 3 locks
Today was definitely a day of stops and starts. This construction was near to our mooring last night - we think it may be the remains of a pinfold?
Monty and I walked to the first lock
Now Monty may have walked across one of these yesterday, but that was enclosed at the back by a wall -
The first stop was at Kingswinford where J&H Trimmings are based - they came to the boat to measure her up for a new cratch cover. We then moved to below the lock. We know there is only one 48 hour mooring above the lock, so I went ahead to see if it was free - it wasn't, so we tied up and waited. We were expecting our daughter in law and youngest granddaughter to arrive. They called when they were 20 minutes out and we proceeded up the lock. We moored part the way on the very long lock landing and part on the very long water point. There was room for two boats at the lock and at least another one on the service point. Right beside us was a car park. Jo arrived, we unloaded Evelyn's stuff and our Tesco shop and whilst we were filling up with water we had a speedy lunch. In the event no one came either way, so we got away with it! We bade farewell to Jo and then moved on a short distance past the end of a long line of permanently moored boats. It is not as remote as the last two evenings, but will do nicely for tonight.
Evelyn has settled in and made herself comfortable
I don't think the neighbours will give us much trouble tonight.
