The Most Boring Walk Ever! 12th August 2018

Sunday 12th August 2018
Ely to Littleport
4 miles, 0 locks

There was nothing for it but to move on today after a last walk along the riverside to check on the progress of the floating hut.  I guess we will never see the finished article.

We met a couple of Gordon Setters - they and Monty ignored each other.  Unless he had been for a swim, I think he could do with a bit of a brush.  They always look very snooty.

This bit of river is wide, straight with not a lot to see - fishermen are the most common sight

We went past the junction to the River Lark: we went part the way down that tributary 4 years ago

Our target was Littlehaven where there are several mooring options - we secured a place opposite

The Swan on the River pub.

There is a tap opposite, but it is out of service

The biggest downside to this mooring is probably the most boring dog walk ever - a long straight path with the river on one side and a road on the other, which meant Monty being on his lead all the time.

The views are far reaching, but not particularly inspiring

The opposite bank runs along by the railway which has a fence between the path and the tracks, which would mean some off lead time for Monty, but not for long before this lot is reached.  I think these three people were trying to work out how to get past.  The man walked down the bank and round them, but the two ladies turned back.

The only thing to get the brain going on this walk was to count down the fishing pegs from 48 to 9.  Some were overgrown and invisible.

I stand by my title - the most boring walk every!

I am quite glad we did not more on the other side as the cows eventually made their way all the way up to the moorings.

Tomorrow is another day, however it will have to start with a repeat of the boring walk!
