Brandon to First GOBA moorings, River Wissey
19 miles, 0 locks
It was back to the 'horse fields' for our morning walk, but today we turned right at the end and kept on going along the track which comes out on the edge of a wood of pines and oak trees
to yet more horse fields
through a kissing gate with a large gap on the left - definitely big enough for a border collie to get through, but no he waited for me to open the gate!
across a meadow
As much as we enjoyed our time here Monty will be glad to leave - he quaked and quivered whenever the US Air Force came our way and they did a lot!
Just as we were about to leave this little boat was launched from the nearby slipway.
There is never much to say about a return journey, but the bonus was that is was dry and sunny.
We had one important stop to make before we left the Little Ouse - Little Ouse Moorings has the cheapest fuel we have found in this area. The lady there was really helpful and we were able to fill up with water and get rid of some rubbish - a rare treat in this part of the world.
Just before you reach the junction with the Great Ouse a road approaches from the left - they are not our speed limits!
So back on the River Great Ouse, which is certainly a lot bigger and we passed some rather nice looking EA moorings.
which charmed us all from the start
Not that we went very far - just to the first GOBA moorings about half a mile from the junction with the River Great Ouse. There are two sets of moorings - the first was pretty full, so nb Cleddau went to check out the second set - result there was enough room for both of us. Once there Monty found a couple of new friends - Boots (collie) and Ernie.
So we settled down for what the weather forecasters said would be a pretty wet night. The sky was not so certain.
So who was our uninvited guest? This was in the bathroom sink when I went to bed. By the time Chris went to clean his teeth it had gone, but where had it gone? ........ to be continued.....
