Job done!

Do you remember all that 'stuff' laid out in our spare room?  Well at long last the room it belongs to is finished and tidy.  It was an enormous job as every  time I thought I had finished I found something else to sort out.  The last job was to label all the drawers and boxes - that, of course, meant taking everything out to ensure it was all where it should be.  It is now!

The first four pictures are 'before' with the green walls and beige carpet that were here when we moved in 7.5 years ago.  The carpet was a synthetic material and had the ability to hang on to every bit of dog hair and fluff and was reluctant to give them up to the vacuum cleaner.

The wooden blind looks okay here, but drop it down to shut it and it is held together with thin air and would not have lasted much longer.

And after with cream walls and a heather carpet.  The room has been flipped around and instead of cupboards this end we have a spare bed, so when our three grandchildren visit they each have a bed, so no more sleeping on the floor.

The shelves are all at the other end now

I have a new ceiling light and curtains to replace the dodgy blind.

The children will be here over half term, so it will get its trial run.  It was a lot of work, but I am really pleased with the end result.  It is lighter and looks better this way round.

Jaq, from nb Valerie, gave us a lovely tea towel for Christmas.  It is a very clever culinary map of the UK and was far to nice to use to dry the pots, so along with one we were given last November it has pride of place in the utility room.  It was lovely to have the sun shining, but it did not aid my photographic efforts!

Chris is having his cataract op next week, so unless they need to do the other eye straight away we should be boating by early April.

Well done Jennie! Your remodel looks fab and the room is very inviting. What did you use to hang the tea towels? Some day I hope to have a home again where I can hang mine.

Good news on Chris' op. Roll on spring!! I am itching to go boating with everyone.

Hi Jaq, I got the plastic strips for the tea towels from Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00556TYJW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. They were a little wide, so Chris cut them down for me. They are designed for posters, so it did take some fiddling and the use of a blunt knife to hold the edge open to get the tea towel in, but it did work. I hope all is well with you and that you got my email the other day? Jennie x
