I read it out to Chris as we were heading out in the car and he is pretty certain that that is not the issue as our blow out valve hose goes to another part of the bilge. We will however, discuss your suggestion of the expansion tank etc with Crafted Boats over next winter. The affected area is supposed to be dry at all times - something we will have to watch. We had been aware of a small leak from the shower for sometime, which never seemed to stop whatever Chris did with filler. Crafter Boats have re-sealed it all, so we are hoping that this might solve the problem. The new propeller for the bow thruster has still not arrived, so we are still trapped at home! Oh how we yearn to be on the cut, although I guess today was not a good boating day! We were litter picking along Tardebigge this afternoon and even though the rain (for the most part) had stopped it was blowing a hooley. Boats were struggling to maintain control. One poor man had broken down and I met him near the top - he had had to bow haul the boat through the last 9 locks and then along a 750 metre long pound. <br />Regards to you both Jennie and Chris Jenniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09991436741087480533noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-385647758044723227.post-22927899303621557002017-06-06T05:51:03.524-07:002017-06-06T05:51:03.524-07:00Hi Chris and Jennie, just a quickie on your water ...Hi Chris and Jennie, just a quickie on your water leak. There is a blow off valve on your calorifier which is factory set to 2bar pressure, or thereabouts. This valve weakens over time. Boatbuilders normally fix a hose to it and leave the other end of the hose in the bilge. When the valve weakens it blows open and water is fired down the pipe at quite a rate. The water pump sees this as a tap being turned on and pumps more water into the system. If the bilge pump is not working it will fill at a significant rate. This happened to us on Still Rockin'. The belt and braces cure is to have a small expansion tank fitted to your calorifier, replace the blow off valve with a slightly higher rated one, say 2.5 bar, and have the pipe which comes from the blow off valve fitted onto a skin fitting which channels the water out of the boat into the cut. This may have also caused a bit of back-pressure to your water pump which may have damaged it. Regards, GeorgeCarolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18155792486454776550noreply@blogger.com
